food indulgence

the past 2 days had been a total pampering of the self with food.


yesterday night the cell group had dinner at geyland lorong 9.
ate this beef hor fun that was really tasty.
and then some of them ordered frog porridge.
tried deer meat and stingray for the first time.
think i'm getting more and more daring in trying.
anyway. there was a short power trip over the place we were sitting at.
which was quite funny.
but everything went on as usual.
i guess it's common.
haha.
even had fried dough with soya bean drink.
was a fantastic dinner.
really filling.

today was an outing with the sixa people.
a good time to catch up with a few of them.

hehe.


while waiting for linda.
the 4 of us tried the hokkien mee at food republic.
wasnt that fantastic in my opinion.
maybe not just the kind that i would like.
hehe.
picky me when it comes to food.


at level one of wistma atria there's a booth for collection of donations for milk.
super cute.
got lovely angel dolls for sale.
quite interesting.
haha.


proper lunch was at pizza walker.
the 5 of us shared a 12" pizza that tasted really good.
haha.
next time shall try the more exotic flavours.
the dessert looked good.
but we didnt go for that.
hehe.

after that took the mrt to dhoby ghaut.
and headed for the cathy cineplex.


there was this really pinky christmas tree at the cathy.
haha.
quite a sight.
who would expect a PINK christmas tree?
haha.
and coincidentally.
linda and i were both in pink.
haha.
how funny.


had merlionster at b&j's.
since we had time before the movie.
so we ended up cozing up at b&j's for some time.
haha.
quite some indulgence in desserts.
hehe.
i love ice-cream!

watched happy feet.
which was quite an interesting show.
all the tapping and the song.
haha.
sometimes just makes me feel like tapping to the rhythm too during the movie.
haha.
cool.


had dinner with joel at holland v hawker centre before heading back home.
ate this minced meat noodles.
the noodles was good.
but i think the meat was ok only. haha.
quite an odd combination.
but well. had already enough food for the day.
haha.

now back home feeling really really full.
haha.
quite a day.

sadly, my camera is really really gone.

ok full of randomness.
this is the end of it!

8 days

down to the end of the 8-day long exam period.
quite short from some people's point of view.
but i feel as if i've aged.

well.
after exam today.
went out with some of my classmates to vivocity.
planned it to be some sort of post-exam gathering.
which turn out to not be as planned.

vivocity can be quite a disappointment.
well as of now at least i think it is.
some of the parts are incomplete still.
and the 3rd level is super inaccessible for getting around.


the 3rd level was segmented into parts.
and the way to access to different parts without going up and down escalators.
take a walk at the sky park.
still under construction though.
should be quite a sight when it's properly done.
but it can really be quite sickening to have to walk under the hot sun.
not to say when it rains.
that means it becomes almost a must to go up and down escalators to get to the different segments at the 3rd level.
oh wow. i wonder what's with some architects.


lunch was horrifying.
ate at fir and olive.
but the food was served in such small portions.
and honestly they dont taste good.
bleh.
enough said.


we ended up randomly walking around the big big place.
cos other than the arcade.
we had no idea where else there's better entertainment for us to do something fun as a group.
the cinema is out of the question once you see the super long queue at the ticketing counter.
saw this car at this 007 casino royale exhibit corner.
not really very cool looking.
though the colour shines in a rather nice manner.


saw another interesting sight at the ben&jerry's there.
the chairs!
so cute looking!
hehehehe.

not exactly much fun i suppose.
the lunch dampened the mood quite a fair bit.
quite a disappointment.

other stuff.


visited this lego shop that was so cool.
really awesome.
lego are such cool toys.
can see spongebob squarepants made from lego.
and elephant made from lego at the right side of the entrance.
and a man with parrot both made from lego at the left side.
some other really cool stuff included this ferrari racing lego set that i really really liked.
looked totally great.
and this lego chess set.
man how creative.
hehe.


this shall be what's keeping me entertained for this week.
at least for this week.

it's the start of holidays.

the ultimate exam equation

exam = study + stress + snacks + presents

the first 2 are self-explanatory.
exams is a period of mugging.
mugging.
and more mugging.
i would say.
study constitutes quite a big portion.
but sometimes i dont think it seems to be the major bit of exams.
haha.

look at the other 3 components.
stress is one big thing.
haha.
managing it is another issue during this exam period.


of cos. snacks.
nothing beats indulgence to fight the stress.
not to gorge in them.
but to really enjoy them once in a while.
when studying.
warning is to consume in reasonable portions.
haha.
i have this thing that i'm slowly crossing the line to over-indulgence.
haha.

marked the start of the 8-day marathon.
a lot of discipline needed to run this one.
the papers get increasingly tougher.

today's one is really amazing.
at least i managed to finish on time.
i've always got this issue about finishing on time.
phew.
hopefully i do well for this one to pull up my screwed up project.

i realised i havent update for ages.

got the chance to go to the budget terminal last friday.
went there to send those going on the missions trip off.
the first time i went to the budget terminal.
it's small.
very small.
compared to t1 and t2.
haha.
but there's han's.
and the food isnt extremely ex.
which is good.

closer and closer i am to the start of the 8-day long marathon.
i need to really work harder.
training in progress.

i decided to separate the previous entry from this simply because it's off to put them together.
but well.
here's something a little more interesting.

was out studying with junjie and edwin yesterday.
went to harbourfront area.


decided to drop by this floating bookshop we were told of on sunday.
the pic of the sea is taken from the deck of the ship doulos that we went up on.
the bookshop was really fascinating.
with a huge collection of books.
and totally at awesome rates!

this shop with loads and loads of sweet treats.

until it got way too cold for us to stay there.

end up walking to harbourfront centre foodcourt to study cos it got really very cold staying at superdog.
mugging marathon back in place after a shift in venue.


edwin went off to buy some snack from this megastore big.
and came back with really odd stuff.
first was the plastic bag. there wasn't a need for a big bag for the things he bought was so small.
and they had this plastic tightening strip put around the bag.
very not cost efficient.

the receipt is even longer than my textbook page.
totally crazy.
and guess how much edwin spent there.
60 CENTS!
i think they need better cost managers!
haha. wasting money on plastic bags, plastic strips, receipts.
based on his description. the staff employed seems to be doing nothing.

after studying for a while.
went back home and end up dozing off.
only to study till late into the night.
woke up rather late today.
got to start making full use of the time now to study.
shall be back to mugging!

unpredictability

sometimes.
humans are hard to predict.
i admit that i myself can be rather unpredictable.
most of the time we just seem to allow ourselves to be so easily affected by circumstances.
driving our "mood" up and down.

soemtimes i find myself totally odd.
in a sense i'm way out of what is predictable of the usual me.
but then again.
what is the usual me.

sometimes i find others unpredictable.
for one i can never really guess what's on someone's mind.
and i can never really know a person full well to make sensible predictions.

sometimes i comment that some people are unpredictable.
in fact, i myself am unpredictable.
perhaps.
it's just innate that we comment on the things we dislike in ourselves that we see in others.
i wonder.
just how odd humans can get.
in fact i wonder how odd i can get.

the unstable state of unpredictability.
sometimes can drive me nuts.
thinking of how sometimes i just behave in the most absurd manner.
and thinking of what is it on people's minds.

sometimes i really wish things were simplier.
or maybe i just wish i'm wiser.

have been trying to really study.
not really totally fruitful.
still have yet to finish with what i need to prepare for the examinations.
gonna have to work harder!

it has been quite a weekend.


saturday morning was at ntu with jj and ken.
thanks to brother ken we had a lovely venue to study.
he booked one of the rooms at the nie student hub.
air-conditioned place.
quiet. nice tables, chairs.
really very considerate of him to provide the snacks too.
the mugathon kit.


managed to only study with them only for a while.
cos had to tutor hanfeng.
ended up taking quite a lot of silly posed shots!

evening was sean's 1st birthday.
he is so so so so cute.
he's becoming more and more handsome!
haha.


and it's so sweet to have sisters.

yet sometimes i think i get so choked up by busy-ness.
that the vision seems blurred.
many things to constantly reflect upon in my life.
many things to change.
really thank God for His patience in dealing with me.
and for His provision for all that i need in this journey.

no matter how crazy the mugathon is.
ultimately. it's pleasant to have time to clear my mind.
to find that peace that nothing else can bring.

the battle of the wits

this morning went to school for presentation.
end up not getting to even present my part.
didnt know the teacher was so strict with the timing of 15 mins.
and apparently the time limit was hit even before i got to speak.
goodness.
i wonder if the grading will be individual.
if so. i'm getting a big fat zero i suppose.
well. sometimes it just gets so crap.
you never really know what's on the minds of professors.
goodness.
time to pull up my socks for exams!

after that was bible study with christine.
somehow think that i never really prepare very well.
bleh. got to make sure that the next time the ambience would be better.
hehe.
i've got a lot to learn.

went out with peishan after that.
at first intended to catch the 3.50 show at jp.
but end up deciding not to rush and go the cathy to catch the movie instead.
so travelled down and managed to get tickets for the show!
finally got to watch it!


the movie was good!
although got quite some discrepancies from the manga.
but it was still nicely made.
of course i doubt it was possible to really film everything that the manga tried to potray.
and have viewers who totally never read the manga before understand.
the modifications added some spice i guess.
at least it wasnt like.
well i know all that was in the movie beforehand already.
hehe.
i like 'L'.
so cool.

i'm so glad that i went to finally catch the movie.
anticipating the sequel to it!

after that went to have dinner at thai express.

saturday

quite a fun saturday in my opinion.

started early.
went church office for children church teachers' training.
today's training was about praise and worship.
so we were learning the actions that go with the songs.
and dancing along.
really really fun.
but at the same time tiring.
sometimes it's nice feeling like a big kid.

after that was bible study.
very encouraging session.
and indeed a wonderful time spent.
God's Word is ever so powerful.

lunched with the cell group and some other sisters.
and bought this nice muffin before i had lunch.
hehe. lovely stuff.
maybe i'll buy more next week if the store is still there.
i tried the cheese corn muffin.
got more interesting flavours!
oh my! hehe.

youth service was cool today.
had a guest speaker.
who came to share his testimony.
indeed amazing how God worked in His life.
an ex-drug addict to one of the ambassadors for the yellow ribbon project.
and he's working with the anti-narcotics units.
helping others in rehabiliation, etc.
God can do the extraordinary even through ordinary people!

was out with gloria and junjie for a while after service.
headed for town.
and it's been ages since i last shopped!
goodness.
was initially excited over the wistma atria basement.
thought that it was going to be something brand new.
end up only seeing the same few things around.
the usual famous amos smell.
the usual aquarium.
went isetan seeing that there was a sale.
and end up getting something!


a girly skirt!

and a good deal too.
got it at 16 bucks.
the original price was more than double of what i bought it at.


headed for ngee ann city there.
saw this competition to win a car.
so many people putting their hands on the car trying to just get that one free car.
oh man.
what a torture.


the public at the side who are bored of watching can even join in the fun.

a good start.

i'm so glad that she is gradually opening up.
it's silly but i'm happy to receive sms-es from her.
cos it brings encouragement to me.

till i was quite shag.
end up slacking around at home once i get back.
worked on project a bit.
super crazy.

tuesday finally got the chance to have dinner with linda.
it's been so long.
really different when i'm not in hall anymore.
how odd.
it just feels different.
and it can be quite funny.
sitting in the room in the place where i used to be.
and yet feeling that out of place.
cos it's no longer the place that i occupy.
had dinner at cant 14.
where it's one of those we usually get to eat at when we're in hall.
but it's been so long since i last ate there.
things do change.
and in an oddly fashion too.

wednesday.
gave class a miss.
since it was presentation for other people.
and i was done with mine.
haha.
kind of bad to not turn up.
but i used the time to study and get some rest.

today.
had quiz.
hmm. i do wonder how i fared.
dont think it'll be fantastic though.

and i screwed up BIG time for my project.
was supposed to do the appendix.
and i messed it all up.
i hate it when i make mistakes.
cos. i always seem to make the BIG ones.
goodness.
i ought to be more careful.
but thank God we finished it.
though we were a little late for class.
still, we got it done.

how stressing.
next week shall have to do a presentation!
got to buck up.

and time to start preparation for the examinations!

i need to stay on the right focus.
i need to constantly monitor myself.
the lifestyle.
that i'm supposed to lead.
i'm learning to lead.
