today was the first time i saw a rainbow.

i know this sounds suagu.
but it was so lovely.
i saw the rainbow for the first time.
almost couldnt contain my excitement.

shine

light shines through when the clouds are gone.
i think for the past few days i've allowed myself to be clouded by anxieties.
the thought of having to handle a tight schedule next week.
i think i totally collapsed.
allowing myself to be burnt out even before things start coming in.
the whole idea was just crazy.
but i'm so glad i chose to go for prayer meeting instead of going for the briefing for orientation camp.
it's nice to be able to just find that peace that no one else can give.
it's just refreshing to be renewed by Him.
it's good to know that though you feel that things simply get out of control He's still in control.
next week. whatever comes my way. i'll be able to handle and pull through.
for He is watching over me.
every step i take i know i'll be ok. cos He'll not let me stumble.
expecting a rather crazy week.
but i know where i can find my sanity.

i realise. i start to lose my patience even more easily when i get too overwhelmed too.
haha. to think that my impatience can actually worsen.
but got kind of irritated by my tutee on friday.
realised that i was kind of harsh on a p3 girl after letting my thoughts be cleansed during prayer meeting.
one thing i've really got to change for sure is my impatience.

somehow. i look forward to facing challenges in which i can grow.
in which i can be moulded to be better.
well. maybe one to really test my patience will come soon.
hehe.

a simple saturday today.
tuition in the morning as usual.
went for service after that.
was caught in such a heavy rain over at my house's side.
the back of my top got so wet.
thankfully over at church office's side it wasnt raining.
i cannot imagine having to jaywalk under a heavy rain.

one thing that struck me today.
one thing for sure is that i can never ever give enough to God.
even if i were to give my everything.
i will never be left with nothing.
for God will provide.
i suppose that's why the constant emphasis that it's never about the amount you give.
but it's the attitude that you have when giving.
of all things, God sees the heart.
and i pray that God will help me cultivate a heart that gives so sincerely.

supposed to be out with sis and ying for dinner.
but end up only having a simple one with sis at the hawker near our place.
well. we'll have fish&co some other time.

and these 2 fridge magnets just remind me of how simple a child's mind can be.
i remembered saving hard just to deposit a certain amount into the children account so that i could get the 2 magnets.
they only released the 2 different designs within a certain period.
ying and i were so crazy saving our pocket money for those.

it's just so heart-warming.

i've got things to do. yet time is so limited.
havent got down to finishing the work for the yearbook.
and the end of the month is coming.
so deadline is really really approaching.

just finished the exam yesterday.
i was blessed indeed.
initially was staring blankly at the first question.
not quite knowing how to get it started.
but ideas just flowed and i just wrote.
hopefully the answer turns out fine.
didnt manage to finish off the last bit properly but i think i've covered more than enough points to get the marks.
i hope i do well.
hehe.

was a super duper long day yesterday.
after that went republic polytechnic.
first time i conducting a simple bible study class.
and to think i've got to translate it to chinese to facilitate understanding.
it was quite an experience.
and i think it was a confidence-building time for me.
also a time to reinforce my knowledge.
though i've yet to fully complete my own course of the bible study class.
i think God has really paved ways for me to ensure that my foundations are built properly.
for me it was a truly refreshing time.

met up with irene after that.
more tasks came in.
got to do quite a handful of things for the vm subcom for the next academic year.
got to really get my hands started on things before i really run late.

after that rushed back to hall for a practice.
was practising some cheer that was required for the orientation camp.
the whole idea sounds silly.
but good thing the session lasted about an hour.
just too bad it didnt end early enough for me to rush back home.
end up trying to help out a little at the sign-up booth in the morning today.
didnt get to do much also.
nobody comes so early to move into the hall i suppose.

now back at home and having a rather bad runny nose.
bleh.
i am in need of more motivation!
i am in need of more things to cheer me up.
i'm getting mood swings occasionally.

pressure cooker

zhien is living in a pressure cooker now.
yes. i admit i do face the struggles.
having to juggle this and that.
which i am totally am lousy at.
i dont have a flair for juggling.

the coming examinations.
preparations are driving me nuts.
having to memorise this and that.
and hopefully i do still remember them on the day itself.

the hall publication - the ultimate yearbook challenge.
deadlines are making me go insane.
yes i'm way behind time.
and yet things arent getting approved.
i understand that having the desire for perfection will of course bring out the best for the publication.
yet having my work rejected does gets discouraging after some time.
especially when you already are running low of ideas.
working with the restrictions doesnt really help make things easier.
the only thing that really gets on my nerves is that.
my boss is the one that pushes me for the work.
yet sometimes he can tell me to relax.
argh. weirdos.

and his english doesnt help in our communication.
i dont really get his point.
and i doubt he gets mine.
hmmm.
i need to work on my communication skills i think.

many other things also fighting for time.
next week's hall orientation camp.
looking at the camp schedule i feel that as if my presence will end up unneccessary.
just got a message from hanfeng who needs help preparing for this exams.
but i'm finding it so hard to even identify when i've got free time.
this week or next week.
i cant believe my schedule is that packed.
argh. my time's being squeezed dry.

i make it a point to indulge whenever i can.

the giant octopus is really gigantic.

i still prefer looking at sea creatures through glass.

but it's just too bad he had to catch sight of his fiancee kissing captain jack sparrow in the movie.
and i couldnt believe i waited for that long credits to end just to catch sight of that few seconds of *unspeakable*.

cathy was well. incomplete.

construction still going around at quite some parts.
the theatre that we were in was the big big picturehouse.
so it's like really a big theatre.
but i felt it was a waste of resources given the small crowd at such a timing on a monday.

oh and i rolled my eyes the moment i bought the tickets and the next thing the cashier commented was "it's lovers seat".
i almost fainted.
why in the world would i need that. haha.
and she could have told me that before i got the ticket.
hello. not everyone watch movies and buy two tickets means they are going in as a couple.
but well. that so-called "lovers seat" was nothing more than just a usual cinema seat.
honest.
ps and i were playing around so we were like 'so how special is this two seats gonna be'.
the arm rest cannot be lifted up.
so well. it's nothing special afterall i guess.
it looks like a perfectly normal cinema seat to me!

and yes the theatre looks like it can be used to stage drama performances.
if you see the pictures in the third row.
initially there's a red curtain over the screen.
after that they would open the curtain revealing the screen.

the top bottom right picture is at the toilets in the picturehouse.
i thought it looked rather interesting.
the sink was just slanted towards the inside so that the water just flows down instead of having a usual hole in the middle of the sink concept.
quite cool.
hehe.
i get fascinated by the weirdest thing i suppose.


we went for ben&jerry's after that.
what's going out with zhien if you dont get to indulge in ice-cream.
yes the favourite food at the top of my list.
ever since the time i could remember what i can remember.


despite the horrible experience with their service some time back when sixa had an outing, i still decided that i should just lay my hands on those ice-cream.
well. they had a rather interesting dish on their menu though.

maybe due to the coming national days.
a simplified version of the vermonster i guess.
six scoops of ice-cream with stuff.
didnt really take note of what they offered.

the two of us wouldnt go to the extent of indulging in that anyway.

a rather chocolatey mix except for chocolate chip cookie dough which i insisted on having since it's my favourite!

was on the bus and heard news of the nel break-down yesterday.
and today was roaming online.

got back to hall at night.
and got started working on the hall publication stuff.
bleh. last night was one of the rare times i sleep so late.
slept only close to 4 am in the morning.
the previous time was cos i went to the airport.
i'm so glad that this morning i had the discipline to wake up at 10 am.
so that i could get started on studying for thursday's examination.
but only got started studying at around 11 am.
had lunch with linda at close to 1 am.
came back to study a little.
and by around 2 plus pm i was done with mugging.
i think i'm too slack.
maybe i should read the extra reading thing too.
eeks. i seriously hope i do well.
bleh.

canteen 13 is up.
with vietnamese and korean food.
western food too!

a funny concept though.
you serve yourself with the drink.
and you pay for it.
i didnt know the canteen vendors held ntu students' integrity with such high regard.

a rather special sunday.
today was lts quiz.
rather interesting for the start.
too bad i couldnt stay for the whole thing.
rushed off to pick someone up from orchard mrt.
and bumped into lindy coincidentally.
sry girl i wasnt free to drop by your uni fair thing.

went for chinese service at our church for the first time.
and the brothers and sisters there are such an enthusiastic bunch of people.
really an eye-opening experience.

however had to go off after praise and worship.
didnt get to listen to the sermon.




went collecting bursary at the teochew association.
spent quite some time waiting there.
bleh. supposed to start at 11. i reached there on time.
but then they started a little later still.


anyway. took a pic of my water bottle.
cos. ying was asking for water to drink while we were waiting for the whole award ceremony thing to start.
then i thought she mentioned about the games in my phone.
so i was telling her. yea got water canal.
yes that's what the whole joke is about.
so now my water bottle is called a water canal.

then didnt join them for lunch.
rather odd for a sunday i think.

went for the afternoon service instead since i didnt have a chance to listen to the sermon during the morning service.
and coincidentally bumped into zhixuan on the bus on the way to church office.
how cool!

too bad i got off the stop after the stop he boarded.
so didnt get to talk much.
